At the foot of the Stuiben Falls in Umhausen in the Ötztal valley, the Birds of Prey Park is one of the focal points of the thrilling Urkraft Umhausen adventure programme. The park is spread over 5,000 square metres – barrier-free – with an arena for 400 people. Visitors can experience a variety of different birds of prey in their element during the daily flight demonstrations. Trained and supervised by three certified falconers, the animals perform impressive and imposing flight manoeuvres as well as their typical hunting style.
Falconry, a UNESCO World Heritage protected tradition dating back more than 3,000 years, also forms the centrepiece of a dedicated educational trail. This takes visitors along the 15 aviaries with eagles, owls, falcons, buzzards, tawny owls and ravens, explaining the characteristics of the individual bird species and falconry as a whole. Don’t miss the opportunity to purchase a special souvenir from the falconry shop; a lasting impression of an unforgettable experience. Nearby you’ll find the Ötzi village, an archaeological leisure park where you can immerse yourself in the village life of the Neolithic Age; enjoy an inexpensive and absolutely unique leisure experience for the whole family thanks to an inexpensive combined ticket.
