Awe-inspiring glaciers, colorful larch forests and idyllic mountain lakes — these are just a few of the many impressions that we all associate with the Ötztal: at the same time it is a landscape worth protecting that attracts myriad visitors from around the globe.
As Austria’s third largest nature preserve, the ÖTZTAL NATURE PARK covers an area of more than 510 square kilometers – there is no other protected area which has a larger glacier-covered surface (about 18%) in all of Austria.
Among the characteristics are large glacier fields, natural history studies and research on high Alpine archeology.
